Funny Christmas Tree Ornaments That Will Put a Smile on Your Face This Holiday Season

Ah, Christmas. All is calm, all is bright.

But in your house, maybe you do Christmas a little differently. Maybe you like to have a laugh at the expense of the guy in red and everyone else involved. And I say, there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I completely back you.

And to prove it, here are some funny ornaments you may want to add to your tree.

Poop Ornaments

I’m not sure why people get such a kick out of poop, but they do. If you are a fan, you might want to add a holiday poop emoji to your tree. Fortunately, or unfortunately, you will find a wide variety available.

The Leg Lamp from Christmas Story

If you have ever watched Christmas Story (and who hasn’t) you know all about the leg lamp and how it can put a smile on people’s faces. For the ultimate in funny, get a life-sized one and put it in your window. If you don’t want to make as big of an investment, a tree ornament will do nicely.

St. Nicholas Ornaments

Instead of St. Nick as in Santa, we’re talking St. Nick as in Nicholas Cave. Imagine your guest’s reaction when they find Nick Cave’s famous mug among your holiday ornaments.

Anything Marijuana Related

If you’re a fan of the wacky tabacky, you’ll probably think it’s a hoot to incorporate the old Mary Jane into your holiday décor. Anyone can be smoking a jay, from Santa to the elves to Jesus himself. Or a wreath made from marijuana plants? It could work.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters

Ugly Christmas sweaters are still very much in style, and they are bound to put a smile on people’s faces. You can have ornaments like Santa and elves wearing ugly Christmas sweaters or place a sweater on a hook and add it to your tree.

Cheeky Santa

What could be funnier than an ornament with Santa pulling his pants down to moon all your guests? Don’t answer that.

Food

Food may not seem like the funniest thing in the world, but it can be somewhat humorous when it’s hanging off your tree. Think of adding a hunk of cheese or a slice of pizza. Or if beverages are more your speed, maybe a mug of beer or a glass of wine is better?

If you want to add some humor to your holiday season, these ornaments will help you do it. Which will you be including in this year’s décor?

传统:精灵和圣诞节:有什么联系?Traditions: Elves and Christmas: What’s the Connection?

We are all so used to seeing elves included in our holiday decorations and celebrations that we can barely imagine a time before they existed. But elves and their tie-in with Christmas has an origin just like anything else. This article will discuss how elves became connected with Christmas and how you can use them in your holiday design.

The History of Elves

Elves can be traced back to Norse mythology. They are often referred to in myths and folklores. They resemble humans in most ways but are known to live in trees and under floorboards and have magical powers.

The first elf-Santa connection was established in the poem, “The Night Before Christmas”. In the poem, author Clement Moore refers to Santa as a “jolly old elf”.

Since then, people developed their own elf-Santa myths. A poem called “The Wonders of Santa” was published in Harper’s Bizarre in 1857 describing Santa keeping “a great many elves at work”. In 1922, Norman Rockwell drew a picture of Santa working alongside elves.

Today, we keep the spirit of elves alive with “Elf” the movie, Elf on a Shelf decorations and more.

How to Bring Elves into Your Holiday Celebrations

There are many ways to bring elves into your holiday celebrations. Here are a few suggestions.

• Elf Decorations: Elf decorations can be hung on a tree or anywhere in the home. You can also add an elf figurine to a winter scene or display it on its own around your rooms.

• Elf Themed Décor: Elves can be worked into your decorations via elf print tablecloths, elf linen napkins, elf dishware, elf dish towels, and more.

• Elf Treats: When baking treats at holiday time, keep elves in mind. You can make elf shaped sugar cookies, elf shaped cakes, and so on.

• Elf Trees: If you like silly, out of the box décor, you can place an elf head on the top of your tree. Add arms to the tree’s middle and your entire tree can be an elf.

• Elf Feet: Elf feet can make a fun decoration poking out of various places. For example, you can have elf feet poking out of your tree, a car trunk, or anywhere else.

• Outdoor Elf Decorations: You can place a large elf on your porch or put an inflatable elf in your garden to cheer neighbors and passers-by during the holiday season.

Elves are such fun little people. They are the stuff of myths and add magic to the holiday season. How will you be incorporating them in your design?

传统:如何保养玻璃圣诞饰品Traditions: How to Care for Glass Christmas Ornaments

Glass Christmas ornaments are quite lovely. They have a terrific, reflective look. They are also quite sturdy, if you can keep them safe.

This article will provide tips on how to clean and store glass ornaments to ensure yours withstand the test of time.

Look Out for Crizzling

It’s possible that your glass ornaments may take on a hazy look over time making them appear dirty, even though they are not. The haze is caused by fine cracks that form on the glass due to prolonged storage in a high humidity atmosphere. The glass hydrates in this environment causing the alkali to come to the surface making a ‘crizzled appearance’.

It’s best not to try to scrub the ornament as this could make the crizzling worse. You can prevent crizzling by ensuring your ornaments are stored in a dry environment. It crizzling does appear, a professional treatment will get rid of it.

How to Clean Glass Ornaments

If your ornaments aren’t crizzled, you can clean them with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. If the ornament is crystal, wipe its surface with a jewelry polishing cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed with a paste wax. Apply the wax to the surface and buff it until it’s dry. Cotton swabs will be effective in removing dirt from crevices.

Storing Glass Ornaments

It’s best to store glass ornaments in a small box so they won’t roll around. Metal and wooden boxes are best as plastic traps moisture that can cause crizzling. A Ziploc bag will also do the trick.

Store your glass ornaments with other glass ornaments to keep them safe. Wrap them in acid-free tissue paper that will prevent moisture and color transfer from one ornament to the other. Use enough tissue paper to fill the spaces so the ornament won’t roll around. Packets of silica gel will trap moisture between ornaments and prevent mildew.

Once the ornament is well packaged, label the box so it’s easy to find. You may also want to write ‘fragile’ on it to ensure gentle treatment.

Avoid storing the ornament in a basement or attic as these rooms are prone to moisture. Closets are better options as they are typically low-humidity spaces.

Glass ornaments are truly precious. The tips in this article will ensure you are doing all you can to keep yours in one piece and looking its best. What care tips do you have to share?
